A peek at the designer from the runway to our pop-up shop.
MADE designer Victor Barragan is the 23-year-old behind BARRAGAN, the brand fusing the internet and fashion into one. Barragan was mainly spotted on the web for his crying Leondardo DiCaprio with MS-DOS folders pouring of his eyes as tears T-shirt, and decided to create a dream and reality out of what started as a joke. Taking the leap from URL to a presentation at NYFW, Barragan has come a long way and doesn’t plan on stopping. MADE chatted with Barragan to see what his new SS17 collection is really about and some sick photos of punk subculture in Mexico.
Stop by our FYI Pop-Up from September 12-14 to shop the collection.
Soundtrack to your SS17 collection:
The soundtrack to our presentation will be Mixed by DJ @MexicanJihad from N.A.A.F.I. We have a close relationship with the record label, and we tapped them to create the soundtrack because we think their blend of tribal, house, and mainstream music works perfectly with our new collection.
Describe some your inspiration and references for SS17:
For this collection we’ve been looking a lot at punk subcultures in Mexico, a subculture thats filtered through American mainstream media and reinterpreted in new, regional, Latino specific ways. We are also trying to stay faithful to our past collections, incorporating a lot of elements we’ve used in the past (bold graphic tees, deconstructed basics, genderless fits and silhouettes).

Describe the character or person that wears this collection.
A lot of the clothes this season are very ´lacy.´ We hope that someone who wears the clothes has the attitude to pull it off without wearing anything underneath.

If your collection was a place, where would it be?
Somewhere barren, with sparse vegetation.
