Catching up with MOSCHINO
The almighty leader of the Moschino brand, Jeremy Scott, has kept busy since MADE LA’s June 2016 showcase. Just this week, it was announced that the creative director would be partnering with abstract furniture company Gufram to reimagine some of Moschino’s most memorable products into household movables. The collection will drop in time for the upcoming Milan design week and will be on display at Moschino’s flagship store in Milan from April 4 until April 9. The collab’s most notable pieces include a scaled trompe l’oeil biker jacket handbag which functions as a cabinet and a pair of Moschino logo heels as an ottoman and shelves.
But it was Moschino’s spring 2017 ready-to-wear show that played on our consumer-culture-inspired heartstrings. Seeing Gigi Hadid walk down the runway in a paper-doll like, floor-length dress brought back #memories of our younger years. Nevertheless, this was juxtaposed with the inescapable connection to the digital. The show giftbags reportedly included a Moschino-branded iPhone case and a Facebook Live chat was set up with Scott post-show. But it was Scott’s ode to Moschino in his use of the iconic Moschino teddy bear as a trim on a black evening dress that really stole the show.
