Goodbye polite pigmentation, hello Radical Radiance!
Brimming with humor and a sharp critique of glamour, MADE alum Maison The Faux has premiered a fresh line of cosmetics and with it, a series of short films. The Belgian fashion studio has teamed up with filmmaker Robert Fox to produce an irreverent series on three of their colors: beige, pink and red. The result is voyeuristic, vain, and a whole lot of fun. These cosmetics are so good that models are literally diving into trash cans for them. There is no end to the pursuit of beauty!
Beige makes for a great entrance. “The créme de la créme of low saturated starters.” What seems like a shady joke is really just the tongue-in-cheek tone for Maison The Faux’s series of infomercial meets arthouse teaser. Do you want a mocha flavored makeout or a narcissistic night at home? Either way, beige is the color of choice.
Pink is the color that always takes center stage. “A climactic burst of blush-worthy colour that may bruise easily if not handled with utter charisma.” The beauty tutorial in this video mocks the artificial nature of makeup infomercials with quick shots of grotesque Joker-like smiles. The pink lipstick smile with braces is one such horrifying moment, for lack a better word.
Last but certainly not least, Red creates the perfect ending to any occasion. “Nothing speaks as boldly as a brash exit. Goodbye Polite pigmentation…Hello radical radiance.” In some ways the most classic, the red series pays homage to what is the most sexy of the colors. Of course red patent leather had to make a cameo in this piece, which is full of fast takes and heels kicking New York City trash cans. Thank you, Maison The Faux, for such an iconic surprise and a truly decadent treat for us all.
