It’s time to know them all.
Ready for retail therapy? Come through to MADE Sydney as we curate a sick international shopping experience for you and the crew. Bringing everyone from Perth to Paris, the world-class roster includes Faith Connexion, 69, MISBHV and many more. Peep these all stars’ blurbs and Instagrams to learn the ins and outs of who will be appearing at MADE Sydney, many of them coming to the Australian capital for the first time.
FYI: Gender-bending, art-infused and rooted in our contemporary moment, Paris-based Faith Connexion is premiering for the first time in Sydney. Celebrating subcultures and advocating togetherness through carefree fashion is what Faith Connexion is all about. Peep the fashion collective’s past three collections exclusively at MADE Sydney.
FYI: MADEME is the NYC it-brand for girls, by girls who gravitate towards skate. By day, MADEME designer Erin Magee is Director of Production at Supreme — a post she has held for the last 11 years. By night, she designs and produces a label inspired by girl power icons like Patti Smith and Kim Gordon. MADE Sydney will be featuring everything from MADEME’s AW16 Collection, MADEME x VANS, and a few items from her almost sold out MADEME x X-GIRL collaboration. Celebrities who work MADEME’s iconic look include Rihanna, Cara Delavingne, Miley Cyrus, Azealia Banks, Katy Perry, and Rita Ora.
FYI: MISBHV, by Natalia, has brought her vision of streetwear to the pavements of Poland- and you best believe girl’s gonna bring it to Sydney. The brand is a platform for those who dare: the hot, the cold, the young, the old. MISBHV at MADE Sydney will have the AW16 Collection’s sexiest shirts and skirts as well as hoodies, jackets and scarves. Worn by the likes of Kylie Jenner, Jourdan Dunn and Miley, MISBHV inspires creativity, individuality and independence in those who commit to carrying the look.
FYI: Perhaps known most for their denim, LA-based 69 is a non-demographic, non-gender brand. Made in our present and meant for the future, 69 is timelessly chic. Look out for bestsellers from their collection as they’ve been seen on Beyonce, Miley and Rihanna.
FYI: Sydney DJ collective Pelvis has been making moves in the streetwear department for a minute now. Their sellout long sleeve t-shirts and sick prints are just one facet of the Pelvis ~lifestyle~ which covers all your dance freak needs. Starting out as a DJ collective, the lads and ladies have become synonymous with some of Sydney’s vibiest nights. Pelvis also has serious international cred as their looks have been donned by the likes of Kylie Jenner and Kanye’s creative director Virgil Abloh.
FYI: All your farmgirl fantasies come true with Gibson and Renee Fox’s label Daisy. Lost on the prairie and still living her life, Daisy is all about crushed velvet, ’70s bow tops, good-girl-gone-bad ginghams, and that python and cowhide moment. Friends of Oyster Mag and retailing at Opening Ceremony, Daisy is a little bit country and a lil bit rock n’roll. A favorite of Kim Kardashian, Steph Shep, and Rihanna.
FYI: Veterans of labels such as Christopher Shannon, Christopher Kane and Perks and Mini (P.A.M), Amanda Cumming and Kate Reynolds established their independent fashion label PAGEANT in 2010. PAGEANT advocates an alternate vision of femininity that is fresh, fierce and current. Their garments are forged from technically sophisticated fabrics, with aesthetic odes to sportswear. Winner of the 2015 Tiffany & Co award.
FYI: Places + Faces is the multi-disciplined duo known for their raw and candid documentation of the top creators, lyricists, influencers and innovators from London and beyond. They’ll be selling t- shirts, DJ’ing and showcasing their most recent photo series exclusively for MADE.
FYI: Don’t you for a minute think we forgot about Sydney’s homegrown talent. Simple but by no means muted, ever-evolving Sydney jewelry designer Ella Maximillion creates some of the coolest chokers, earrings and “neckies” we’ve seen anywhere. This black leather look is giving us everything and there’s a lot more where that came from.
FYI: Lessons Concept Store, based in Perth (that’s Western Australia for those unfamiliar), specializes in bringing high end international streetwear brands to Australia. The focal point of their raw, modern and minimal Perth location is a steel black cage that houses their most exclusive releases. The design concept, inspired by the three owners’ time in New York, Paris and London, allows pieces by the likes of Hood By Air, DRKSHDW, KTZ, The Incorporated, C2H4, MISBHV, Represent Clo, VFiles. Garbage TV, & Mort Paris to be showcased in all their glory. LESSONS is doing a collab tee with GarbageTV and exclusive VFILES Basics at MADE Sydney!
All handmade in Copenhagen, Soulland is a globally recognized Danish streetwear brand with a traditional twist. Soulland is known for outerwear, as well as hats which are based on the Adler Fedora, a traditional men’s fedora, and fused with a baseball cap brim. While always remembering its legacy, Soulland aims to push menswear forward in new directions.
FYI: Established in 2014, Melbourne-based Distal Phalanx is the spot for international and local emerging designers. Brands they carry include Andrea Crews, Gauntlett Cheng, Nasir Mazhar, Telfar, Maison La Faux and many more.
FYI: Mix teenage wasteland with bubble pop electric, and you get Emma Mulholland. Rocked by everyone from Kanye to Grimes, Mulholland has been featured in Mercedes-Benz Sydney Fashion Week since 2014 and will be selling exclusively from her latest collection for MADE Sydney.
FYI: Egyboy is Australia’s resident “Art Cowboy,” and is most well-known for his work as an illustrator (peep the ubiquitous “Boys Don’t Cry” tee) and writer (his two books are Basta and My Flag is Black). Irreverent and charming, Lithuanian-born and Sydney-based Egyboy unsurprisingly cites art stars like Warhol, Basquiat, Jeff Koons, and Karl Lagerfeld as personal heroes. He’s pioneering his own movement of art called ‘Whateverism’ and is down to show his art anywhere and everywhere, from zines and tees to Sydney galleries.
FYI: The creative vision of Double Rainbouu speaks for itself: “Take me down to paradise city on xanax holiday to ride nowhere. Run ocean drive on cruise control or aqua plane. You can hitch hike or high roll. This is the leisure industry, it’s russian roulette on a black sea holiday. It’s your indian summer. It’s your burning desire. Got you ga dangs. Get some sex wax on a low five. Take an acid drop at day break, night swim in the cruel sea. We are your sun drug, your blonde ambition. This is your up time. It’s a teenage riot. Get your flaming lips on this burning palm. This is young love, you’re ciccone youth. Enough squad goals. Bring your glossy possy. Hit club trop, run Bora Bora. Dive bomb into bliss til tequila sunrise. Come rainbow. Repeat rainbow. This is Double Rainbouu.”
FYI: POMS is a Melbourne jewellery label founded by Adriana Giuffrida in 2011. Each POMS piece is truly unique in its construction and design, covering everything from blossom chokers to the perfectly pink pair of cateye sunglasses. POMS and Pared Eyewear have teamed up to create the ultimate summer frames sold at MADE.
