Shots of London’s rising talent.
Paris and London-based photographer Wendy Huynh shares some of her photos from fashion editorial shoots. Catch her shots showcasing Central Saint Martins design graduates and London brand Freckle.
What’s your favorite medium to create within?
My medium format film camera.
If you weren’t doing photography, what career path would you be pursuing?
As a teenager I wanted so bad to be in a metal band and be able to hardcore scream.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
Places and people in the suburbs I live in and around (I live in the Eastern suburbs of Paris). I always come across on my way home this boy who wears fake Louis Vuitton swim short eating kebabs on his scooters, group of friends speaking and playing music out loud in the metro, teenagers hiding and kissing in the park next to my home. Just anything which surrounds me basically.
Describe your ideal muse.
When I was younger, I was fascinated by my brother who was the stereotype of a chavy boy from the 90s, wearing all Sergio Tacchini with a Lacoste hat, Burberry scarf, tinted golden glasses and listening to French rappers Arsenik and NTM all day everyday. So I guess my brother back then was my ideal muse.
Who is the person who has influenced you most in your career?
My friends I met at Central Saint Martins in London. Each of them are crazy as fuck and changed my vision on art, people and mostly party!
How interconnected is your personal life and career?
Very connected as I always create things based on my personal life; drawing inspiration from things around me, that are part of my daily routine. I love to shoot people from my entourage, my friends or friends of friends.
Are you ever not working…creating?
Yes of course, although when I’m not working I never stop thinking of new ideas, looking for boys I would like to shoot, poses I want to capture. But there are obviously moments I have my time off, my favorite is to spend endless hours watching French TV shows.
